  1. It is possible to use a solution of 1 tablespoon
    of sodium bicarbonate(NaHCO3) to 1 gallon of water, sprayed on the undersides and tops of the leaves weekly . Powdery mildew will affect melon and squash flavor/ vigor if left unabated. It is also caused by excessive amounts of nitrogen in the soil. you might consider not using anymore N for the remainder
    of this growing season unless you see the tell tale signs of N deficiency, yellowing leaves radiating upward on the plant.
